Came out on steam just recently. I think I'm definitely gonna try this. I mean come on, a competitive game that may very well have players INTENTIONALLY farming time paradoxes to defeat their opponents. Awesome.

I tried the game. It was pretty fun, but honestly, I think most of the game is lost potencial. Just didn't use the mechanics as well as it should have.

Good to see some RTSbros hang around here.

That's dissapointing. But patches could improve the game. I mean just look at the state of Starcraft 2 right now. Half the match ups don't even have a rock/paper/scissors set up right now and are just "Get more of X unit then your opponent does."

I'm also a long-time FPSbro... been playing since Red Alert. Smile

When speedy Banelings happen to plow through Marauder balls, or when Brood Lords plow through Tank turtling, I beg to differ. :3

While I see where you're going, there's another thing to consider; it took years to patch up the original Brood War to perfection, so I'm sure Blizzard will wind up doing the same thing with SC2 eventually. Everything starts off rough.

Also, do you have Team Fortress 2?

Well yeah that's what I mean. It takes a long time and a lot of patches for the meta game to become what it's meant to be. Hopefully Acrhon will have the same effect.

Also while some of the races have variety in Sc2, it just feels like a lot of stuff isn't as viable as it should be. I mean look at PvP, it basicly comes down to "He who has the most collosi wins", there are other strategies that can work but it's just not as viable as it should be. Although balance isn't my main quip with Sc2. As much as I like it, I still wish the game had a bit more emphasis on micro and positioning then the purely macro based game it's shaping up to be.

And yeah I got Tf2.

That's the basis of EVERY SINGLE RTS EVER.

Also, everyone has TF2. Free. 8D

Yeah but in some match ups it kinda takes the strategy out of things when you know exactly what your opponent is going to do before they do it and your only option is to do the same. It might be better for other races and match ups, but Pvp is where this really is glaringly obvious.

It's the same thing. =P

Yes but in the ideal situation there's also counters and micro to be the deciding factors of equal food army battles. Like, you come up with mech, I come up with air. You come with anti air, I come with infantry (or whatever counters what for each race).

I'm not saying it never get's like that. I've had matches that were really epic and dynamic full of awesome tech switches and multiple skirmishes with micro and shit, but still, I think there is a lot to be desired in the current meta game. I mean just look at Protoss; we have an entire tech tree that's useless in 99% of the situations you'll face, stuff like carriers, pheonixes, and void rays are supposed to fill a purpose in the meta game. But right now they just don't.

Carriers I can see, but Phoenixes are one of the better harassment units, namely against queens and worker lines. Void Rays are meant for pressure and fulfill a similar purpose, especially when the build comes unexpected - most of the time the opponent wouldn't have anti-air.

Yeah but both of them are ONLY against zerg. Since T and P all make marines and stalkers anyway which beats them easy since void rays are basicly just glorified flying stalkers. And the main problem with pheonix harass (besides the insane micro it takes) is that ONE static defense unit like a cannon, turret, or spore will shut it down 100%. They are good against Zerg early game to buy time, but otherwise no.

Also I made a Sc2 thread earlier, we should talk there if you want to discuss it more.

One thing I do love. The fact that this game dares to be fully original with that mechanic.

And originality is something that we need desperately in the gaming industry.
