In fact, I'd rather play Mugen competitively honestly. This game is just so shallow, it has nothing going for it beyond basic high/low left/right reflex based play. And while that kind of twitch gameplay can be fun, I can think of tons of games that have the same thing only with much more depth, execution, and strategy. Not too mention a faster pace and much more intelligent move set design. The only reason I'd think of playing this game or getting Umvc3 for is MAYBE to mess around with Arthur and a few other characters I like.

Also I know what some people who may read this will think "lol he says other games have faster pace. this game is faster then mvc2 lol you can cancel moves before you can even see them." No. How fast you can cancel or how fast you can dash does not make a fast paced fighter, that's the same fucking argument Blazblue scrubs make when they attempt to argue against the game being slower then Guilty Gear. Mvc3 is really, really slow compared to mvc2. Hell, freaking tvc and the mvc1 trilogy were faster games. How "fast" a fighters pace is is about the little things like blockstun, hit stun, and the amount of input the game requires. Mvc3 has ten times as much blockstun as Mvc2 ever had, resulting in much, much slower and less fluid blockstrings and overall combat. It has 100 times more hitstun then mvc2 or any other game in the series ever had, resulting in every time someone lands a 2a the game breaks to a halt while the other player dials in a generic easy mode combo that does 50% over the next 20 seconds. And the "I can cancel shit uber fast" actually takes out half the input in the game and lets you get what you want just by mashing your controller, resulting in a lot less input, and a lot less action. Mvc3 just gives the illusion of a faster experience so that you watch a video and think it looks really fast while meanwhile the scrubs and casuals are able to handle the slower blockstrings and lack of input.




I firmly believe 2 things in my heart: 1, the only reason most people play mvc3 is because they believe (correctly) that they will be beaten up by Sentinel if they try Mvc2. And 2, the only reason anybody plays Blazblue is because Accent Core can only be played online if you have a psp. If I am wrong in these assumptions, then God help the fighting game community.

If I didn't buy mvc3 I would probably get this on sale.

But I'll stick with my useless copy unfinished beta test real version released in the same year no spectator edition.

If you didn't get mvc3 and want to try umvc3 then by all means go for it.

But if you got mvc3 and still have bad water in your mouth. I KNOW BLOCKBUSTER IS DEAD BUT FIND A FAMILY VIDEO OR SOMETHING AND RENT IT FIRST KIDS. TRY BEFORE BUY.

Besides, the roster is still too small. Don't give me that of but it's a new game. Tekken 6 was a new game done from scratch, no real old assets besides sounds, and it had more characters than the last.


Besides......Dark Phoenix 2a 2a 2a 2a 2a 2a 2a 2a oh where did 50% of your health go? Oh just to my 2a's that combo off anything. Pair that up with button delay online and you have yourself something worth complaining about.


I will rent this game at least to give it a CHANCE.

Actually, Tekken 6 had about 40 characters. UMvC3 is at the 50 character mark.

Regardless, Squire is definitely right. MvC3, by common knowledge, IS TERRIBLE. IT PURELY AND UTTERLY SUCKS!! Despite it being an unfinished beta that conned millions of its fans out of their money, it's still very fun to play with friends, so I actually like it. Just because the game is clearly bad with its constant scrubby dial-a-combos and glitches everywhere doesn't mean it can't be fun at the same time. The concept of a massive crossover alone still charms my interest in the game, but the content itself is just... yeah. I'm skipping this for a far superior game. That game is Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

I'm getting TTT2 as well. But mvc3 still doesn't have more than tk6. And tk is from scratch with a ton of new things and animations.

MVC has way less and still.

The only excuse for using japanese wesker, dante, or haggar is that you ARE japanese. I'm sorry but if you're american and your using a character who is supposed to be american and has a better voice actor in english and you switch to japanese voice actor then you are a weeaboo. Seriously.

Not even that. Dante and Wesker were always english even in Japan. Haggar? Well, the only game he really "spoke" was FF: Streetwise.
